This book is designed to meet the needs of radiologists and radiographers by clearly depicting the anatomy that is generally visible on imaging studies. It presents the normal appearances on the most frequently used imaging techniques, including conventional radiology, ultrasound, computed tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging. Similarly, all relevant body regions are covered: brain, spine, head and neck, chest, mediastinum and heart, abdomen, gastrointestinal tract, liver, biliary tract, pancreas, urinary tract, and musculoskeletal system. The text accompanying the images describes the normal anatomy in a straightforward way and provides the medical information required in order to understand why we see what we see on diagnostic images. Helpful correlative anatomic illustrations in color have been created by a team of medical illustrators to further facilitate understanding.

La prima tratta gli aspetti generali e le norme essenziali: sono descritti il Sistema Sanitario Nazionale, la struttura dell'Azienda sanitaria, il percorso formativo del TSRM, gli aspetti particolari della sua figura professionale e come questa si sia modificata nel passaggio dall'era analogica a quella digitale. Arricchiscono inoltre questa sezione i capitoli sulle norme relative a radiazioni ionizzanti e radioprotezione, oltre che sull'etica, la deontologia e le problematiche medico-forensi. La seconda parte dell'opera percorre sistematicamente l'anatomia umana, regina dell'immagine, per distretti corporei: partendo dall'anatomia macroscopica, illustrata da numerose tavole a colori, si descrive come utilizzare correttamente le metodiche di imaging, cosi da inquadrare meglio la condizione normale e identificare precocemente il patologico. Chiude il volume una terza sezione dedicata alla verifica dell'apprendimento mediante test a risposta multipla.

Nowadays, there is tremendous interest in an integrated imaging approach to urogenital diseases. This interest is tightly linked to the recent technological advances in ultrasound, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and nuclear medicine. Significant improvements in image quality have brought numerous clinical and diagnostic benefits to every medical specialty.

This book is organized in nine parts and twenty-seven chapters. The first six chapters review the normal macroscopic and radiological anatomy of the urogenital system. In subsequent chapters, urogenital malformations, lithiasis, as well as infectious and neoplastic disorders of the kidneys, bladder, urinary collecting system, and male and female genitalia are extensively discussed. The pathologic, clinical, and diagnostic (instrumental and not) features of each disease are described, with particular emphasis, in neoplastic pathologies, on primitive tumors and disease relapse. The statics and dynamics of the pelvic floor are addressed as well and there is a detailed presentation of state-of-the-art interventional radiology.
